Bed Fixings

All beds are made with the traditional Cornish bed fittings and cast knuckle fixings, that were used on the original Victorian bed frames.

Hand cast and poured using traditional gravity casting techniques.

Hand cast and poured using traditional gravity casting techniques. The fixings are shown here. The fixings slip in to place and lock (we suggest using a rubber mallet initially to get them locked together). Once in place the bed will not rock or squeak and will continue to get more and more solid as the weight of occupants locks the fixings together.

This is the same fixing used on original Victorian brass beds and brass iron beds and these remain as secure as the day they are made. When an old bed is restored these fixings do not get restored just a new coat of paint because they will be solid as the day they were cast. Our beds will be antiques in the future.
